OK I am waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy behind on my posts so instead of attempting to finally get all of my Christmas celebrations on here I am going to skip them and move on with my life.
Instead I am going to talk about
THE Blizzard of 2011 otherwise known as
Snowpacalypse.
I live in Missouri and over the past week we have gone from 70 degree temperatures to NEGATIVE 11 degrees in just a few days. Missouri is famous for drastic temp changes but this is down right ridiculous!!!
I worried all Monday about the weather. We had radar viewing breaks at work and could not believe the massive storm cloud that was coming our way. The weatherman kept saying it was going to be the biggest blizzard since 1912 and that we should expect 2 inches of snow per hour. He was predicting that we would get 20 INCHES OF SNOW!!!!
On Monday night the freezing rain started and we woke up Tuesday morning to 2 inches of ice and a teeny bit of snow. 200+ schools cancelled school and boy am I glad they did. By mid-morning we had several inches and it did not stop coming down all day.
During the week Caitlin created many little art projects. This is project #1...
She worked so hard on her sun catcher
My poor hubby shoveling the driveway. He thought the snow was over, but it started back up as soon as he finished.
You can't even tell that there is a street behind Aaron
We thought this was a lot of snow. Man were we in for a huge surprise!
Our lunch. Yummy soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. I cut Caitlin's like a heart. She thought this was the greatest thing ever!
Kya running around one of the snowdrifts. It looks like she is running with her eyes closed because of all of the snow blowing in her face.
Remington was only outside for a couple of minutes and he looks like he is a white dog!
I brought work home and remote connected to my computer at work so Caitlin decided she should do her "homework" with me at the table. She does not have homework in kindergarten but she always says she needs to do homework like the older kids and she gets books out and copies the sentences.
I am very lucky--- she wants to do homework!
Later that night we decided to try to measure how much snow we actually received. Caitlin put my rain boots on and could barely stand in the snow. She doesn't weigh very much so she kind of just floated on top of the snow.
As you can see, she has snow all over her pants. She ended up falling several times!
We ended up getting 7.5 inches (in this spot). If you walk down a couple of feet it was 9 inches and the snow drifts were about 3 feet high.
***I am very thankful that we did not receive 18-20 inches like many of my out of town relatives did. I feel so bad for them!!
After all of our hard work we went back in and made SNOW ICE CREAM. I have never made it before but it was amazing. I think Caitlin and I have a new tradition.
